The Good, Bad and the Ugly - Mahesh Bhatt

A man of many facets- Mahesh Bhatt who is an extra ordinary filmmaker known for the outstanding movies like Saransh, Daddy, Naam, Swayam,Ashiqui, Awargi, Dil Hai Ki manta Nahin, Sadak , Sir, and Zakhm. He is one of the most successful directors and producers of modern times. Not only he has produced and directed the great movies but have also launched the careers of Many actors Including veteran actor Anupam Kher,Ashutosh Rana, Sonali Bendre, Rahul Roy, Anu Agarwal, Atul Agnihotri, Manoj Vajapayee, Aftab Shivdasani , Kangna Ranaut , Shiney Ahuja etc.

Perhaps the art of his great film making, is wrapped up in lot of traits, which reflects his uglier side. Incredible talent, polluted by bad character is a poison that dehydrates the world of positive virtues, and craving for it makes you more vulnerable. It's easier to maintain a good character than to recover it when it's gone bad!”

I am not casting aspersions on his character. But his life is full of controversies no matter what criterion or yardstick you are using to evaluate his character.

Let’s discuss the few controversies.

Kissing a daughter is normal by all standards.  All fathers do that. Kissing a daughter by locking her lip for a film magazine and then terming that he would have married to her, if she was not his daughter is grossly abnormal even in the most liberal countries. This cannot be normal trait but the trait of an abnormal man who is trying to find abnormalities in others.

Mahesh Bhatt had an extra marital affair with the glamorous Parveen Babi. To stay with Pareen Babi, he left his wife Lorraine Bright. Parveen Babi succumbed to the mental disease and as a result he had to leave her too. He remarried to Soni Razdan in 1986. In other words, he had already three women in his life when he was just 38; Lorraine, Parveen and Soni Razdan.

It is neither trials nor relationships, nor successes nor failures, that define a man, but the choices he makes while handling them.” Known to speak his mind in a sometimes-outlandish manner , which he tries to defend in his intrepid and secular image has given birth to many controversies. Kangana Ranaut claimed that Mahesh Bhatt flew into a violent rage when she turned down his production, titled Dhokha, which was about a woman who becomes a suicide bomber after being subjected to atrocities by the police. Kangana alleged that Bhatt nearly assaulted her and was stopped by his daughter; Pooja Bhatt. His so called affection with younger woman did not go away. He never won the trust of those women as was obvious that Mallika Sherwat did not confess anything to him after she lost her career to the casting couch.

Mahesh Bhatt’s love for alcohol and women is well known. Mahesh Bhatt was viciously trolled after his intimate pictures with Rhea Chakraborty went viral. In a bizarre response, he called the minds of the people as perverse. On the other hand Rhea Chakraborty was heard praising Mahesh Bhatt stating that he is an energetic person and that he practices what he preaches. But God alone knows why his preaching needs to be intimate with women?

Finally quoting Abraham Lincoln” You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” The aristocratic foothold you enjoyed over the years in the guise of pseudo liberal and pseudo secular image has changed significantly. With the rise of social and electronic media, people are able to identify and filter the fake and real. The anger against the nepotism and subsequent dislikes of Sadak 2 Should be an eye opener to you. People are changing, so should you.
