Akshay Kumar is a Fake Patriot

 

Akshay Kumar’s pro-Pakistan stand is well known.  While signing a movie with producer-director Anil Sharma, he categorically denied saying a single word against Pakistan either in dialogue or in intent.  He gave a clean chit to Pakistan as far as Terrorism is concerned. He said in an interview, “Terrorism is not in a particular country, it is everywhere including all religions. He did not even hesitate in mentioning India’s name amongst the countries where terrorism is being spread. He said In Hindi, “ Terrorism Jo hata Hai, wo country mein Nahi Hota, wo Kutchh element hota Hai. Terrorism India mein bhi Hai, America mein Bhi hai, Austria mein Bhi, Paris mein bhi hai aur Peshwar mein bhi Hai." In a different interview, he said that In Pakistan his Films do the best business in Pakistan. "The Love we get it from Pakistan is unequalled with any other country."

Recently in an interview he said to Canadian people, that post retiring from Bollywood, he would settle in Canada as that was his home.

I am not against any Indian who is holding the nationality of any other country. But to label, such a person as a great patriot and the person who is doing a great service to uplift the Farmers In India as anti-national exposes the dichotomy and duplicity of right-wing nationalism. Yes, You are right. I am Talking of Aamir Khan.

Aamir Khan founded the Paani Foundation in 2016, with the mission of making rural Maharashtra drought-free and prosperous. For decades, drought has severely affected thousands of villages in the state. However, this is not just a natural calamity. It is a crisis largely caused by humans – by poor management of water and rapid destruction of nature.

Aamir said, he is geared towards creating a people’s movement to tackle drought. We mobilise, train and motivate villages to lead this fight. This rightwing Nationalism has taken pot-shots at him after a scene in PK which was being branded as anti-Hindu by the same political class which has undermined the comments of Akshay Kumar but created a clichéd belief against Aamir Khan because in an interview he said that his wife who is Hindu herself believes that India is becoming polarised and she feels unsafe.    

I do not endorse what Kiran said or What Aamir Khan feels about it. But to a label a person anti-national who is doing a yeoman service to mankind by making world-class movies against social evils and issues which needed attention to deal with. Aamir made a Film on Dyslexia, which I am hailing as one of the greatest movies of all times as It explains the pain of a child that involves difficulty reading due to problems identifying speech sounds and learning how they relate to letters and words. The movie provides a perspective and educates both parents and the teachers how to identify and deal with such a child.

Aamir Khan made a movie “Three Idiots” which changes the paradigm of education and the perception of formal education. Aamir Khan made a great movie, “Dangal” to hail the sports involving our daughters.  Aamir made movies like “ Magal Pandey, Rang De Basanti and Laggan on Nationalism. Aamir Khan made a movie Sarforosh on terrorism.

Above all, Amir Khan made a talk show to focus on sensitive issues like female foeticide, child sexual abuse, rape, honour killings, domestic violence, untouchability, alcoholism, and the criminalization of politics.

There was timing when politics divided us but there were movies that united all the sects of the society and now are the time everything is divided and extremely polarised including movies. There are factional groups pro and against in the movies. It is Kangana Vs Jaya; Akshay Vs Aamir; so on and so forth. It is giving us a dangerous trend and the WhatsApp group is Fuelling this divide to broaden the chasm so that the unruly politicians can rule.
