Image
Akshay Kumar’s pro-Pakistan stand is well known.  While signing a movie with producer-director Anil Sharma, he categorically denied saying a single word against Pakistan either in dialogue or in intent.  He gave a clean chit to Pakistan as far as Terrorism is concerned. He said in an interview, “Terrorism is not in a particular country, it is everywhere including all religions. He did not even hesitate in mentioning India’s name amongst the countries where terrorism is being spread. He said In Hindi, “ Terrorism Jo hata Hai, wo country mein Nahi Hota, wo Kutchh element hota Hai. Terrorism India mein bhi Hai, America mein Bhi hai, Austria mein Bhi, Paris mein bhi hai aur Peshwar mein bhi Hai." Dilip Kumar- The greatest actor of all the times

Image
Yusuf Sarwar Khan aka Dilip Kumar; Thespian, Tragedy King, legends of legends, the greatest method actor, the film institute are only some of the names of an actor who have inspired many generations of actors. Satyajit Ray described him as the ultimate method actor in the entire world. He truly is. Dilip Kumar is compared with the greatest actor in the world Marlon Brando. Many believe that he copies the acting style of Marlon Brando. But that is not true. Marlon Brando came later in the picture as far as method acting was considered. Marlon Brando's unique style of acting was noticed in the movie Streetcar Named Desire , a role that he originated successfully on Broadway in 1951. Dilip Kumar's acting style came earlier than that. He had already established by then the acting style he is known for. He had already left an imprint with the movies like Jugnu ( 1947, Mela and Shaheed in 1948 and Andaz in 1949. So to label him as a copy of Marlon Brando is factually wrong and g

The Opportunistic Bachchan Parivar

Image
Much has been written on twitter about Jaya Bachchan Thali comment and she has found great support and equally the trolls from others who don’t support her comment. In a strongly-worded statement, she expressed that "People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. "People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that the government tells such people not to use this kind of language." Let’s discuss the Thali debate. I do not agree with Jaya Bacchchan’s comment that there are certain people in the industry who are being flogged by social media to  discredit or disregard the industry. The truth is opposite. Bachchan Parivar is not the custodian of the film Industry. They are not the industry but the part of the industry. The industry belongs equally to all those who have worked for it. It equally belongs to Kangna Ranaut , Ravi Kishen or Jaya Bachan and Amitabh Bachchan In fact the biggest opp

Kangna Ranaut- Heroics and Trantrums

Image
Kangna Ranaut is a multi-faceted, multi-talented actress. She is an icon to reckon with. She symbolises the struggle of a small town girl who has made a gigantic success on her own. Kangna Ranaut is only the actress who has got the recognition for both commercial and art cinema bagging three national awards, four filmfare awards and a Padam Shri. Not only this, she has featured six times in  Forbes India 's Celebrity 100 list. Destiny is not a matter of chances, but the matter of choice. She was destined to be an actress by choice, though her parents preferred her to be a doctor. The two aspects of her reputation and dispositions are grossly distinct. Her reputation of being so brave and the notoriety to be involved in multiple controversies are quite evident. The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off. You can choose courage, or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both. It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” is it the courage whi

The film came to wider attention in the English-speaking world when its opening song “ “Jaan Pechaan Ho”" (a Hindi-Urdu phrase roughly translated as "we should get to know each other") was included in the opening credits of Ghost World and used in the 2011 commercial The Date for Heineken. The song was sung by Bollywood music legend Mohammed Rafi. The lead dancer in the song as shot in the film was Laxmi Chhaya  The psychedelic choreography was done by Herman Benjamin, who also sang the song as picturised in the film. सुबहो आती है, रात जाती है सुबहो आती है, रात जाती है यूँ ही वक़्त चलता ही रहता है रुकता नहीं एक पल में ये आगे निकल जाता है आदमी ठीक से देख पाता नहीं और परदे पे मंज़र बदल जाता है एक बार चले जाते हैं जो दिन-रात, सुबहो-शाम वो फिर नहीं आते, वो फिर नहीं आते ज़िन्दगी के सफ़र में गुज़र जाते हैं जो मकाम The beautiful lyrics of the movie Aap ki Kasam penned by Ananad Bhakshi describes the uncertainty of the stardom in Bollywood. As it is being said that Bollywood only worships the rising sun. No Matter how talented you are, you would be dumped at a time when you are not needed. The Bollywood is a an opportunistic industry, who dumped the pure gold –RD Burman aka Pancham, in 80’s  in a frenzy and Maniac indignation to Disco. In other words Pancham lost to Bappi Lahiri and the new entrants of the music industry. Despite giving the best of the music in 80’s for Sagar and Ijjazat,Pancham was dumped . For Ijjajat ,Gulzar Sahab and Asha Bhosle got the national awards. But that was not enough. He was ev

Yeh kooche yeh neelam-ghar dilkashi ke  Ye lutte hue karvaan zindagi ke  Kahan hai kahan hai muhafiz khudi ke yahaan peer bhi aa chuke hain jawaan bhi   tanomand bete bhi, ha ha abbaa miyaan bhi (also the lusty sons, even their father!)    The song from reflects the cynical and gloomy side of Guru Dutt, the greatest intellectual, philosopher, whose movies have left an indelible imprint on the movie lovers globally. Many books have been written on him. Guru Dutt saw the film making as a medium to reflect the crude realities of life. Guru Dutt movies are philosophical. He is the only filmmaker from India, whose films and directions are hailed by the global media, press, critics, film makers, Magazines and journals equally. His name is written in golden words in Times Magazine, Sight & sound and IMDB. In this piece from the Sight  &  Sound archive, Mark Cousins highlights “one of the great, brooding figures in post-Independence Indian cinema”: an actor-director who broug
